Author Guidelines

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES:

 The submitted work must be in accordance with the items below, and the authors are fully responsible for checking:

- Suitability to the aim and scope of the journal;

- Originality, and it should not be under consideration for publication by another journal. The paper may be submitted in Portuguese, English, or Spanish;

- The file should be in Microsoft Word format, A4 paper size, justified alignment, 1.5 line spacing, 12 pt Arial font size;

- Figures and tables are placed within the text, following ABNT/NBR norms, as are quotations and bibliographical references.

In addition to what has already been mentioned above, the submission must also follow specific guidelines:

  • Article

All articles must be between 15 and 20 pages. The bibliographical references must be within the text (author's last name, year and page), and the rest of the information in the item References. Footnotes are for additional information or clarification that cannot be included in the text and should be written in the 3rd person singular. The elements of the articles should be in the following order:

- Title in Portuguese;

- Authors' names, title, affiliations, and e-mail addresses;

- Abstract, which should be between 150 and 200 words;

- Keywords: maximum of four words, capitalized, and separated by periods;

- English Title, Abstract, and Keywords;

- Spanish Title, Abstract and Keywords;

- Text;

- References.

  • Literature Review

All reviews must be of books published within the last three years, not exceeding six pages in length. In addition, it must be written in the 3rd person singular, and in the following order:

- Specific title of the review;

- Name of the reviewer, title and affiliation;

- Complete references of the publication: title, city, publisher, year, number of pages, surname and name of the author;

- Keywords: maximum of four words;

- Text.

  • Interview

Interviews cannot exceed ten pages and must follow the order described below:

- Title;

- Names of the interviewee and the interviewer;

- Introduction of the interview and the interviewee;

- Transcription.

 

EVALUATION CRITERIA:

The assessment of the reviewers is based on the following parameters:

- ARTICLE: Consistency of the title in relation to the content; contextualization of the abstract, which should present the problem and its importance, the article's objective, used methodology, and found results; consistency of the scientific research and, consequently, coherence of the work regarding its objective, theoretical framework, methodological procedure and discussion of results; relevance of the article to the field of study, and proper use of language.

- LITERATURE REVIEW: Informative, critical and critical-informative clarity; presentation of the generated knowledge to the area of Distance Learning; consistency in the summarized exposition of the book reviewed; and proper use of language.

 

CONCENTRATION AREA OF TICs & EaD EM FOCO (lines of research):

- State of the Art on ICTs and/or DL;

- Learning Assessment in DL and/or mediated by ICTs;

- Teacher Training for DL and/or the use of ICTs;

- Methodologies and Teaching Practices in DL and/or the use of ICTs.

Submission Preparation Checklist

All submissions must meet the following requirements.

  • The journal will publish papers that result of original research work and address issues related to Distance Learning - DL and Information and Communication Technologies - ICTs, whose authors preferably are part of a graduate program;
  • If the paper complies with the journal's requirements and is considered suitable by the Editors-in-chief, it will be peer-reviewed (double-blind review). After this stage, the authors will be informed whether or not their paper has been accepted.
  • The paper will be checked for plagiarism and must follow the guidelines required by TICs & EaD em Foco. Otherwise, it will be sent back to the authors with a request to adjust it to the guidelines and a deadline for return;
  • The paper should have a maximum of four authors, who agree not submit this same research to other journals. Should there be more authors, the situation must be explained in the comment section for the editors consideration. The content of the paper and the opinions expressed in it are the authors' sole responsibility;
  • It will be accepted submissions from master's students, and master's and doctoral graduates. All authors must confirm their authorship of the manuscript using the ORCID id;

The names and email addresses entered in this journal site will be used exclusively for the stated purposes of this journal and will not be made available for any other purpose or to any other party.
