The main objective of this study is to show the process of using active methodologies by language teachers as a teaching and learning method for Portuguese language. The justification for the theme is due to the insertion of technologies in the educational system and its contribution to teaching. Therefore, the purpose of active methodologies is to support and create opportunities to share different forms of learning, such as the use of flipped classroom. This allows a variety of methods for acquiring content, such as the use of video lessons, games, books and didactic texts. The research methodology is qualitative, with Portuguese language teachers from high school. The data shows that the insertion of a media resource contributes significantly to the student's learning, considering the teacher's training with digital information and communication technology, which guides the application in the teaching and learning process. In light of these considerations, new research is proposed as a way to broaden the vision and break paradigms, seeking new methods for teaching Portuguese language. Therefore, it is concluded that the use of active methodologies is part of the process of capacitation and improvement of teachers, as well as promoting autonomy and critical thinking of the student. Thus, the use of active methodologies has become recurrent inside and outside the classroom as a method of learning. Therefore, active methodologies promote meaningful learning, providing new meanings, new forms of learning, and broadening knowledge.
