Abstract

This article analyses the New Literacies and the use of digital technologies as Digital Learning Objects (DLOs), exploring their potential as creative teaching and learning tools. The study focuses on the use of TikTok as an accessible and dynamic media resource, highlighting its applicability in middle school, especially in Portuguese language classes. The research has a descriptive nature, based on recent and relevant literature to support and analyse the data. The results indicate that the use of TikTok in the classroom can promote greater student engagement and participation, contributing to the development of essential skills and competences for contemporary basic education. It became clear that the use of ODA, especially the TikTok application, promotes greater participation and interaction on the part of students in the construction of their own knowledge, stimulating their skills and putting into practice the competences that currently guide Brazilian basic education.
